Everyone in the states knows a true classic comfort is a grilled cheese and tomato soup, and now we can get that as vegans in a theme park. Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been one of the better parks for us vegans over the years; and Woody’s Lunch Box in Toy Story Land is no exception.

While we’ve been able to enjoy meals here since it opened, we now can enjoy a whole new side with our meal. The Tomato-Basil Soup is now marked as plant-based and features no dairy! It even has nutritional yeast it in to give it a creaminess.

Now we do have a few hurdles to jump currently when it comes to this soup. First off, you can only order it in person to get it as a side to the Plant-based Toasted “Cheddar” Sandwich. On the My Disney Experience app you can only get potato barrels as a side and it also does not note that the soup is plant-based. So if you want to get it as a side for the sandwich you will have to wait in line for it. I made the mistake of going at prime lunch time and from the moment I got in line to when I got my food it had been just over 45 minutes. Don’t be like me; go at an off time.

The soup was very creamy with a nice tomato flavor. It was a very simple soup, as tomato soup should be, and I really enjoyed it. The true test was dunking the sandwich into the soup, which was a winner. I would absolutely get this as a side with my sandwich over the potato barrels, even with the wait.
The Plant-based Toasted “Cheddar” Sandwich as always was decent. It’s not amazing by any means, but it hits that elementary school grilled cheese lunch nostalgia. It with the tomato soup definitely gave it a boost. I do also love that they have this as a kids option.

In addition to the sandwich and soup we got the Plant-based Totchos on this visit. This is a crowd favorite for so many. The bowl is filled with potato barrels, vegan chili, vegan cheese shreds, vegan sour cream, corn chips, and green onion. Currently it is not noted on on the main menu that they have a plant-based version but is noted on the app.

The totchos were very flavorful on my recent visit and it had tons of the crunchy corn chips. This is likely one of the best totcho bowls I’ve had here in all the years they’ve been open. I am happy this is still an option and you can get this and the sandwich all day, including breakfast.

Be sure to give that new soup a try, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
