Vegan Disney World’s Favorite Dishes of 2016

Spring Rolls

2016 has come to an end, we want to thank you all for following along with us for another year! As this year comes to an end, it means it’s time for Vegan Disney World’s favorite dishes of 2016. So let’s take a quick trip into our favorite things we ate this year.

First we’ll check into what were Paul and Tara’s favorite items.

Vegetarian Pho and Spring Rolls from Hollywood Brown Derby at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Spring Roll
Vegetarian Pho

A relatively new item, added to the menu during 2016, both Paul and Tara really loved the many flavors and textures of this dish. The pho was nice and spicy while the crispy spring rolls were complimented with a tangy sauce.

Erin McKenna’s Cinnamon Toasty Custom Cake

Special Order Cake
Cinnamon Toasty

Erin McKenna’s Bakery will deliver to most restaurants and resorts on property. Just call ahead and you can get a cake, or whatever you may like, delivered to make a special dinner even more special! If you don’t have time to call ahead, just stop by the bakery at Disney Springs and take home a bunch of donuts, cookies, cupcakes and more.

Pumpkin Cake from the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Pumpkin Cake
Cake Jars

The Star Wars Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party was added to Hollywood Studios this year to compliment their new nightime firework show over The Great Movie Ride. When you book your dessert party you need to note your special dietary needs, once you enter the party you will receive your ‘made just for you’ desserts and snacks! The Pumpkin Cake at the party really, well, took the cake.

Tofutti Ice Cream, from everywhere

Chocolate Tofutti

Who can go wrong with some Tofutti Ice Cream? Almost every restaurant offers both chocolate and vanilla for desserts! Don’t forget to stop by the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor in Magic Kingdom to get some before the parade. If you can’t do soy, try the Rice Dream ice cream that is often found everywhere as well.

All the vegan food from Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Vegan Feast at Sanaa

Sanaa used to have a seperate vegan menu, they got rid of this year but that doesn’t mean that the large selection of vegan options left. Some of the items you can get include their coveted Indian-Style Bread Service made with gluten free vegan bread, the Potjie Inspired entree offers several vegan selections that change seasonally, and tofutti ice cream for dessert.

Now let’s check out what were Corey and I’s favorite items this year.

Tater tots from Boma at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Tater Tots and Plantains
Buffet Sampling

Now I’m sure you’re thinking, just the tots? But everything on this buffet and what the chef makes for you is excellent, but the tots are out of this world. They are super crispy and have some special seaoning on them that make them even better.

Sundaes from Beaches and Cream Soda Shop at Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Vegan Old Fashioned Sundae

Beaches and Cream offers tons of various sundaes for those who eat dairy, but they also have Tofutti and Rice Dream available to make delicious dairy free sundaes. Load up on the peanut butter sauce and top it off with Oreos.

Crispy Rice Cakes from Victoria & Albert’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

Crispy Rice Cakes

Victoria & Albert’s is a Signature Restaurant that offers both a 7 and 10 course meal. Our meal we had was excellent, but the true highlight of this meal were the Crispy Rice Cakes. These guys were so full of flavor and multiple textures, they were just everything we’ve ever dreamed of and more. If you ever get the chance to do a Victoria & Albert’s meal, make sure you get these!

The entire buffet from Tusker House at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Full plate from the buffet

Tusker House buffet is an African-Inspired restaurant. This buffet is probably 75% vegan from the salads to the hot food. Some of our favorite items here include the collards, tofu with zucchini, samosas and tabbouleh. Plus you get to hangout with Safari Goofy, which is pretty rad.

Everything Chef TJ makes at Trails End at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground

Nachos
Crispy Tofu with Grilled Vegetables
Dessert Tower
Corey, Chef TJ, Melissa

Chef TJ seems to make our list every year because every trip his food just gets better and better! He always starts off with a salad of some sort, a seasonal soup, some nachos with his house made vegan cheese, samosas, an ever changing grilled vegetable, crispy tofu with a mound of vegetables with rice and tower for dessert. Thank you for everything you do, Chef TJ, you are what we look forward to most every trip!

Bonus: Vegan Pizza from Blaze Pizza at Disney Springs

Our Pizzas

Blaze Pizza gets an honorable mention since they are actually a chain. They recently opened a location in Disney Springs and they are just as good there as they are everywhere else. All of their crusts are vegan and they have Daiya vegan cheese.

Thank you for another year, we’re so thankful for all of our readers! We wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t for you. Happy New Year!

Corey, Melissa, Paul and Tara
